Well, technically, we’re about to have dozens of babies at Old South Studios!
It brings me great joy to announce the addition of the super talented photographer, Angela Braniff, to our studio family. This amazing newborn photographer has been operating a successful newborn studio, Angela Braniff Photography, on her own for the last few years. She is relocating to our studio in Ballantyne and now shooting under the Old South Studios name.
Find out more about this sweet redhead below!
(in Angela’s words)
Where to begin…. I am a mother of three beautiful children, who are my inspiration and the reason I strive to be better, kinder, and wiser everyday. I married my high school sweetheart, and anyone who knows him will tell you, I snagged the sweetest, most amazing husband a girl could ask for! He supports my dreams, even when they seem out of reach. God has truly blessed me and my family.
I think a child is the greatest gift you’ll ever receive and to me, Newborns are God’s greatest work of art!
Newborn sessions are my absolute favorite sessions! I just can’t get enough of their sweet smell, tiny little features, and the way they curl so perfectly for photos. Those little details depart so quickly as they grow, and I love knowing I am helping a family to always have a way to look back and remember them exactly how they were given, fresh from God!
Not many people these days can say they absolutely love what they do…..I am so thankful to be one of the few who can!
Angela encourages Moms who are expecting to book their newborn sessions months in advance. She prefers to shoot newborn portraits when babies are 4-14 days “new” so pre-planning is essential. See more of her beautiful work below.
With this new addition of Angela’s newborn photography, Old South Studios is now a full-circle, lifetime studio.
We have been offering family and wedding portraiture for several years in the Charlotte area but we did not offer newborn sessions in the past. Now, our beautiful brides are becoming Moms and our family clients are adding sweet new additions to thier families.
Along with timeless, beautiful newborn portraits, we are excited to offer family/sibling shots at your newborn session. Angela is excellent at posing new Moms to look and feel their best. Dads and siblings are also encouraged to join in for a few images too. We are all about family here at Old South Studios.
Take a peek below at more of Angela’s beautiful work. We have a HUGE newborn studio ready and waiting in our Ballantyne studio and are thrilled to begin this new chapter with Angela Braniff as our lead newborn photographer.

Once you have booked your Newborn Session, I will send you more detailed information, but here is a little general information:
~ Newborn sessions are done before 14 days old. This is for a few reasons, the baby is more likely to sleep soundly, which will allow me to move them into those adorable newborn poses. The details of a precious newborn fade quickly as they grow and change very rapidly, so capturing those details is very important. And while I do minor retouching, it’s best to avoid that newborn acne that often shows up around 3 weeks of age.
~ It’s best to contact me while you are pregnant, I will put your due date on my calendar, and when the baby is born your husband or a relative can send me an email or give me a call, and we will schedule your session.
~Sessions take place at Old South Studios in Ballantyne (south Charlotte).
~The session itself can last up to 3 hours. Most of the time it doesn’t take that long, however I feel it’s important that you understand that is a possibility. I am extremely patient with Newborns, and often we must stop for a feeding, changing, or just a few minutes with mom. It’s best if you can bring something to read or do (like work on thank you cards etc…)
~ I think Newborns look best just how God made them, in their birthday suits! Clothing tends to be baggy and photograph poorly. I utilize props such as hats, headband, wraps and blankets, which I feel enhance the details of precious newborn baby. I provide all the props, including hats and headbands. However you are welcome to bring one or two of your own if you have something special you want me to incorporate.
Oh, and be prepared to sweat! We crank the heat and I use a space heater, which usually produces a very sweet and sleepy newborn
One last side note, we are hosting a Studio Open House on Sept. 18 so feel free to stop by. Meet the Old South Studios team and take a peek at our newborn studio too. There will be giveaways and prizes too so don’t miss it! Please RSVP by Sept. 18 to firstname.lastname@example.org
