For years, I have said that winter weddings are my favorite. Of course the Carolinas are lovely in the spring and fall but to me, the darlings of the wedding season calendar, in my opinion, are December, January and February. These often overlooked months hold a special place in my photographer heart. They are inherently cozy and full of the glitz, glam and sparkle only black tie weddings can command.
Madeline and Worley love this time of year the way I do. Madeline said she saw huge, gold Nutcrackers in department stores on a trip to New York and fell in the love with the concept. She decided to incorporate them throughout the decor of the already lovely Quail Hollow Club on wedding day and the resulting look was filled with Christmas charm. Every guest felt that magical spirit of the season as soon as they arrived. I have a feeling the images below will bring you that same dose of Christmas cheer.
12.16.17 was the day Madeline and Worley had dreamed of for a solid year in advance. All the planning, design, choices, etc. came to life in the most beautiful way. But the most endearing element was the sweet connection they share. Their first look behind the club was filled with happy tears and sweet laughter. They are the kind of couple that reinforce your faith in love. Love for one another, love for family (90% of their wedding party was their own nieces and nephews!) and love for friends (who traveled from both near and far to join in this amazing day).
To the new Mr. and Mrs. Johnson, every year, when you put up your Christmas tree in your home, I hope you will take a moment to find your wedding album. Together, I hope you will flip through the pages and relive this magical day in 2017. And God willing, years down the road, I hope you will share it with your own children. Yours is a love story for the ages. We were the lucky ones who got to provide the illustrations.
Merry Christmas to ALL!
