“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Jesus Christ to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do”.- Ephesians 2:10
I was born right-handed. It is nothing I earned or can boast about. I honestly feel the same way about my photography talent. I have worked and studied to improve my skills but they were first given to me by the Lord.
That being said, using my camera to provide comfort, hope and ministry to others is my way of thanking God for this gift. He has entrusted me with a unique skill set to help others and to proclaim the gospel of Jesus Christ through my work. My lens is the only vehicle I know of that can literally stop time. Knowing the portraits I create will be clutched by a grieving mother, admired at a wedding reception and treasured by a father whose children have long since moved away, is humbling beyond belief.
I position my company to remain profitable so that we may devote our time and talents to those in need of our unique services. Below is a list of organizations we regularly work with or have created to share our gifts with those who need it most.
To read why I became involved in this charity on a more personal level click HERE. Every day babies are born around the U.S. who will never leave the hospital. Those parents had the same hopes and dreams for that child as I did for my own newborns. They are only given precious hours to cradle that baby and it is my greatest honor to offer complimentary portraits of their child’s time here on Earth. I believe these images begin the healing process in the most beautiful way and I know there will be sweet reunions in Heaven one day.
The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society– Light the Night Walk
My mother donated her bone marrow to my aunt. It bought her 2 more beautiful years with her children and grandchildren. My niece was diagnosed with leukemia at age 3. She endured 2.5 years of chemotherapy and finally WON her battle. I have seen the anguish that this disease causes in families and we will donate our talent whenever possible to provide hope for these struggling families. We were thrilled to document the wonderful city walk thousands of area families took in honor or remembrance of loved ones with the disease. We hope to make this an annual fall tradition.
Field of Dreams
In His Image held its first Field of Dreams event last July which was co-sponsored by the LLS. We promoted the special event at both Levine’s Children’s Hospital and Presbyterian for all children undergoing treatment for pediatric cancer. We plan to make this an annual event where ALL children in the Carolinas can join us in our 7 acres of sunflowers for complimentary portraits. Flashes of Hope graciously provided prints for each family while Split Second Sound provided fun music to make the event a joyful one for all of us. For at least one night, we provided smiles to their sweet faces and hope to hurting families. We already have our date for 2012 ready!
What a thrill to go behind-the-scenes to document Ty Pennington and the gang build a home in just 7 days! A very deserving foster family in North Carolina needed more room to bring more children into their lives and ABC did just that. We had exclusive access to the build site and reveal. I will never forget the feeling of love and sense of community on the set every day. Yes, there are still so many good people willing to help others in our own towns and neighborhoods.
This local women’s shelter is home for many Charlotte area women and children desiring a new start. It was a priviledge to provide Santa, Mrs. Claus, loads of toys and supplies in December of 2010 to the residents. We offered free family portraits to all the residents since many fled from bad environments with nothing but the clothes on their backs. The joy and pride they expressed at owning an image of themselves with their children was indescribable. We hope to work with this wonderful home again soon.
We were happy to offer our services to this fun, community event raising money for Breast Cancer Awareness. Women banded together, heard one another’s stories, played some tennis and reminded one another that a good friend can help you weather even life’s toughest storms.
I realize there are dozens, even hundreds, of photographer options in Charlotte. You can find someone to photograph your family for $5-$5000. Please know that In His Image Photography is about so much more than just a successful business. We hope our doors will remain open for decades to come so that we may bless more and more people in the Charlotte area with our work. To continue in that mission, we hope you will choose us to photograph your next family portrait session, wedding or other special event. Your patronage is helping us to impact people in ways you may never know. We humbly thank you for your support.
