Talk about a southern girl’s dream wedding! The Duke Mansion is a historic bed/breakfast just a few miles from uptown Charlotte. Dozens of guests can stay on property and all of the wedding festivities can be hosted in one beautiful location.
Allie and Ethan had a garden wedding (complete with a string quartet!) and guests enjoyed the shade of the umbrellas during their June ceremony. Champagne was passed just after the new Mr. and Mrs. Miller were announced and guests mingled around the property and porches for cocktail hour.
We had already done about 90% of all portraits pre-ceremony thanks to a first look so we only needed the newlyweds for a quick 20 minutes afterwards. Then, they joined their bridal party upstairs for some light hors d’oeuvres and cocktails privately. Once the band was set up, introductions were made and the reception was underway!
Some of the big highlights of the day were seeing Allie’s Dad pass out dozens of Alabama pom poms for the crowd to use as the band belted out “Sweet Home Alabama”. Seriously, the crowd went wild! And, I have seen A LOT of wedding bands but nothing…and I mean nothing!…compares to the last 15 minute montage of songs by The Royal Suits. From “Scrubs” to “California” to “Jump Around”, everyone was on the dance floor giving it all they had before the sparkler exit. I will never forget the amount of energy that filled the Duke Mansion this night! We had the time of our lives!
To the new Mr. and Mrs. Miller (and your adorable families), thank you for choosing Old South. Your trust in us means so much and I hope you love the images just as much as we do. We promise to remember your anniversary for every 6.9 date to come. Congratulations!!
