Oh Marissa and Robert, where do I begin?
Your engagement story is one of the most romantic tales I have ever heard. Robert planned an entire day to sweep Marissa off her tiny feet a few months ago. First, he arranged a private hot air balloon ride above beautiful Charlotte. Marrisa was pretty suspicious at this point, but even though he was acting nervous, no ring. Later they were heading to dinner to meet her parents who had flown into town. After the “non eventful” balloon ride, Marissa was a little put off by Robert’s insistence on showing her McGill Rose Garden just before dinner. Afraid they would be late, Marissa wasn’t too thrilled with this odd detour but reluctantly went along with his plan.
A few days earlier, Robert spoke with the garden director, Carissa, about his special proposal. She went so far as to place a column in front of the exact spot where he wanted to propose so he could set up his camera on a timer. Fast forward to the real proposal and just as they had planned, he found a key hidden away just for this moment. He escorted Marissa inside the gate and casually placed his camera on the column. Then he walked her to the arch in the middle of the rose garden, dropped to one knee and asked her to marry him. She was so blown away that she backed up so far you can’t even see her reaction in the photo!! Once she composed herself, it was all kisses and tears for the soon-to-be Mr. and Mrs. West.
With this kind of story, we HAD to return to this exact spot for their engagement session. This time, we were sure to keep Marissa and her HUGE ring in the frameI am beyond blessed to add illustrations to beautiful love stories like this. We continue their tale next October at the Duke Mansion when they become husband and wife. It is my joy to be a part of this journey with you both. Enjoy the images!
