Heather and Ben are the kind of clients you immediately know will remain friends long after the wedding day has passed. First off, we share a die-hard love for SEC football. These two met at The University of South Carolina and I am a Georgia Bulldog through-and-through. We teased each other about who would stomp who come fall 2014 but one thing we could always agree on was how much fun their 6.14.14 wedding was going to be!
Seriously, these two are so loved and I never, ever had to ask anyone to smile for my camera. Her bridesmaids rocked various shades of peach/pink and the overall look was so soft and pretty….just like Heather. She teared up seeing her family, hearing the speeches, and of course, when Ben surprised her with a very special gift. Just before the ceremony in the bride’s room at First United Methodist, she opened a small white box. Inside, was an engraved silver lock with their monogram and wedding date. They would plan to leave it in Paris on their honeymoon. Now how precious is that?
I should also mention that their church ceremony exit will always hold a very special place in my heart. Many months prior, Heather shared that she had lost her father several years ago. She was very close to him and was already grieving the fact that he could not be with her on her wedding day. I suggested a unique send-off to honor his memory. We would have the church congregation line the steps immediately following the ceremony. The minister would offer a prayer of rememberance for her father, then the couple would release balloons in his memory and exit through a happy sea of bubbles. That is the kind of beauty that is hard to put into words….so I let my camera do it for me.
Heather and Ben, thank you, thank you, thank you for choosing Old South to tell your beautiful story. It was my honor to be there and capture every sweet moment.
P.S. My kids are very unimpressed by wedding images (you can imagine how many they have seen me edit in 6 years!) but when my youngest passed by my computer, she said (with wide, adoring eyes)….”whoa. Mommy, you shot Barbie’s wedding?” HA! My dear, I most certainly did. The new Mrs. Riddle just so happens to be as beautiful on the inside too.
