Dear Blog Reader,
Last Sunday, March 18th, we hosted our yearly brunch honoring all of our 2017 Old South brides. How can I convey just how meaningful this annual brunch is to me?
I came across a quote (author unknown) recently and felt it sums up exactly why we host this event.
A client is the most important visitor on our premises.
She is not dependent on us. We are dependent on her.
She is not an interruption of work. She is the purpose of it.
She is not an outsider to our business. She is part of it.
We are not doing her a favor by serving her…
She is doing us a favor by giving us the opportunity to do it.
Our brides ARE our company. They give us the opportunity to tell their amazing wedding stories. They open the door into their most sacred relationships and allow our cameras inside. We are storytellers and without their trust in us, we would have no story to tell. There would not be an Old South Studios photography company without these women. This annual brunch is our way of personally thanking the brides from the year before FOR GIVING US STORIES TO TELL (and our dream jobs in the process). They believed in us. Then they turned around and told their sisters, bridesmaids, friends and sorority sisters to hire us. They are cheerleaders for our company and they deserve a seat at the head table of our company.
A very special thanks to the fabulous Melissa with What’s Up Buttercup for these amazing florals. I asked for “soft, pretty, pink and white” and she nailed it. A great artist can take a few words and transform their art into your vision. She is most certainly an artist. From the bottom of our southern hearts, thank you for making our brunch so beautiful.
As always, we want to thank the amazing team at The Duke Mansion for helping us host our….wait for it……FIFTH annual brunch at your lovely mansion. Inez and Lydia served each plate of shrimp and grits with love and make every young lady at the event feel so very special. Your venue is the epitome of all we stand for at Old South- graceful, lovely, historic and welcoming.
And finally, as you scroll down, you will see a *new* addition to our brunch program this year. Shannon with Smile Laugh Share set up that sparkly silver backdrop and all her techy goodness and well….our ladies brought the fun! That slideshow above and images below make me grin from ear-to-ear. Our brides KNOW how to have a good time!
I’m also throwing it back to our 2017 , 2016, 2015 and 2014 brunches below so be sure to watch how the event has grown throughout the years.
I cannot thank our brides enough for their loyalty, amazing online reviews, word-of-mouth referrals and more. YOU are the heart of our company and our doors are always open to you. I promise to remember every anniversary and celebrate alongside you when the OTHER best days of your life happen. We hope your story includes job promotions, a slew of kiddos and more amazing memories down the road but just remember….we were the lucky ones who got to illustrate the opening act.
Truly, this company, Old South Studios, is the fruition of every promise God ever made to me. My cup runneth over.
Can we take a small break and appreciate how GORGEOUS our 2017 brides were???? Looking so fab, ladies!!!
Our team of photographers at Old South (left to right)- Dana, Alisha, Alyssa, Julie, Autumn, Aleta and Lindsey (sweet Allison could not attend).
These ladies pour their hearts into every wedding they capture and our brides adore them as much as I do. People often say “it must be hard to operate a company full of females”. I can assure you we are a FAR cry from Desperate Housewives! We are a no-drama, I-support-you, you-go-girl, tight tribe. A victory for one is a victory for all. Sit back and let us show you how strong, confident women CAN and DO work together in harmony. We are on our 3rd year together (all 8 of us!) and we aren’t even close to finished yet!
And below is a peek into our “just right” Old South bride. She is social, witty, sentimental, driven, confident, family-oriented and FUN!!!!!!!!
Now, let’s take a stroll down memory lane to last year’s event honoring all 2016 Old South brides.
Special thanks to Lily Greenthumbs for these beautiful florals and Cake Expressions by Lisa for the yummy cake! Abby with 13 Cedar Events helped me plan the whole shebang and our faves at Whitewash Films did some behind-the-scenes videography too. We love our fellow vendors as much as our amazing brides!
The video below makes me cry EVERY….SINGLE….TIME. The words of my brides and my own story of surviving a house fire led me to today. Jenn and Brian produced the video below which will forever be a treasure.
And now a peek back at our Brunch honoring all 2015 Old South brides. This was back when our group of brides was still small enough to host the event in the Dining Room at the Duke Mansion. The bold, beautiful florals were created by New Creations Flower Co. and the cake is by Ines with Sky’s the Limit Bridal Sweets. Each place card was lovingly penned and painted by artist extraordinaire Kristen Henderson Calligraphy.
This was the year we honored our 2014 brides at the annual brunch. Year 2 of our brunch, the company was much smaller and only Alyssa worked for me (plus sweet Sarah was our intern). Thanks to Lily Greenthumbs for fabulous florals, videography by Whitewash Films!
And then there was the inaugural brunch honoring our 2013 brides…..
WE WERE DUMMIES AND DID NOT TAKE ENOUGH PICTURES I really never could have dreamed that this event would become the highlight of our year at our company!!! Somewhere deep in the archives exists a group photo (one day it will emerge!) but Crown Alley Films did produce an amazing video below.
